Mitigation Measures

$1.5 Million to Oak Creek Fire District

Secondary Emergency Access Road established for emergency purposes only, evacuation and access for ALL residents.

1.5 Million Gallons of water storage for redundancy and fire protection.
Expanded Hydrant and Water Supply infrastructure in coordination with Oak Creek Fire District.

Firewise USA Designation with programs to enhance preparedness and reduce ignitions.
Annual Monitoring of vegetative health and adjusted treatments based on conditions.

Partnerships with local agencies and Colorado State Forest Service for fuels reduction.
Deployment of Wildfire Camera Detection Systems and early warning protocols for high-risk areas.

Support for using ski runs and gladding as strategic fuel treatments for wildfire mitigation and ecological benefits, grounded in wildfire science.

The emergency access road is intended solely for use during emergencies.
Residents of both Stagecoach and SMR can utilize this road in critical situations, such as if the bridge at 16 were to collapse or during a wildfire.
It will provide vital access for emergency personnel, facilitating ingress and egress when needed.
This access is especially crucial, as there is currently only one primary exit from Stagecoach, which becomes particularly limited in winter when Links Pass is not maintained.
SMR will also ensure that the road is maintained and kept plowed throughout the winter months to guarantee safe access year-round.
