Wildlife
The goal is to avoid, minimize, and/or mitigate the impact of the development on all wildlife species using the property. Recognizing that one of the attributes of the SMR is the wildlife that occupies the area. The Wildlife Mitigation Plan aims to protect and enhance wildlife habitats while accommodating development at the property.

Protection of Wildlife Species
The development is strategically designed to avoid impacts on important wildlife habitats, particularly for species like golden eagles, elk, and Columbian sharp-tailed grouse.

Specific Objectives:
-
Elk Habitats: Minimized impacts on elk production and winter ranges through designated open spaces and restricted access during critical seasons.
-
Grouse Habitats: Avoidance of impacts on grouse production and lek sites whenever possible.

Wildlife Impact Minimization:
Seasonal Trail Closures: Restrictions on trails during critical wildlife periods (e.g., elk calving and wintering habitats).

Sustainable Practices: Implementation of bear-resistant trash management, prohibition of wildlife harassment, and enforcement of pet control measures.

Ecological Stewardship:
-
Landscaping Initiatives: Promotion of native plants to enhance wildlife habitats and control of noxious weeds.
-
Dark Sky Measures: Measures to maintain dark sky conditions for nocturnal wildlife.
